This is our new go-to restaurant in Canandaigua! Chris Ventura and Wendy Loveless have created a cozy, friendly and most importantly - delicious addition to Main Street. I haven't met a sauce that Chris makes that I haven't loved. From starters to deserts we have been delighted by what he's cooking up. Most recently we had the Braised Octopus and Utica Greens to start. The Octopus was perfectly cooked and paired with vinegar potatoes with a sauce that is to die for - multiple layers of texture and flavor. The Utica Greens are beyond. The flavor comes in waves and while it does bring some heat, I love some spice, so it was a win all around. Next we shared an order of my new favorite: Ali Amatriciana - the sauce is fantastic - again, very complex (5 stars for finding Guianciale!) but the house made potato gnocchi is the star. They were the most perfect pillowy potato gnocchi I have ever had. With a side of Rapini we were oh so happy and full! Oh, and on Monday's no corkage fee (being that we went on Jan 1st we brought our favorite bubbles) but I started with a surprisingly (only because I couldn't imagine how all the flavors would come together) Bullet Rye cocktail (a take on an old fashioned I think) that was supper yummy. This review is making me hungry lol But in all seriousness, Welcome to Canandaigua. We are so grateful you're here!

First visit here last night with my wife. I'm pretty picky about my Italian food and everything here was excellent. Had a 7pm reservation and by the middle of dinner (Saturday night), all ten tables plus most bar seats were full. It's an intimate place and I enjoyed the atmosphere and energy from a full house. We started with a reasonably-priced (38) bottle of chianti and two appetizers: three meatballs and polenta were delicious; the burrata was an unusual preparation, as it was in the middle of a bed of greens. The balsamic-soaked croutons were a nice touch. We had the gorgonzola pasta (with a pile of crispy prosciutto on top) and the Bolognese, loaded with meat. Both were excellent and the portions were big enough that they'll be dinner again tonight. No room for dessert. We'll definitely be coming back!

In one simple sentence, I'd describe this place as a casual-dining, Italian Bistro with excellent service, exceptional food and well-balanced drinks. I'll start with our server, Kayley - that I immediately liked - but being our first time here - I didn't know whether her tastes aligned with ours and whether she could be 'trusted'. She absolutely earned it - when we go back I'll ask to be in her section. Her first recommendation was for a fried goat cheese balls - and we like goat cheese - but I'd describe this dish as perfection. The thinly-breaded exterior was golden brown and texturally executed perfectly; the cheesy interior held its shape but was slightly soft, the relish gave it some heat and the arugula gave it something fresh as well as slightly bitter, but in a good way. We both had drinks too - me the Fig Old-Fashioned and my better half had a salted caramel martini. Again Kayley described the martini as 'drinking dessert' - again, spot on description. I'm a bourbon fan - and I thought this Old-Fashioned was well balanced, a little bit of smoky/earthiness from the fig - and the bourbon was there, but not bashing you over the head. Our entrees included the Bolognese and Gorgonzola. We only ate half to save room for dessert - and again both were excellent - and still great when we had the leftovers for lunch then extra day. Be aware - the gorgonzola 'funk' isn't for everybody - this dish was probably my least favorite of the night; but it was still very good. I liked it better the next day cold - my only suggestion would be to boost the ratio of asparagus and mushrooms. We came for the Tiramisu - and ended up getting that one to go when (again, thanks to Kayley) we heard about the chocolate boudino and a bourbon-apple, amaretto panna cotta. The turamiso was breakfast the next day - and still wonderful, the boudino - be warned - was roll-your-eyes-back-in-your-head-in-a-good-way sweet, and the Panna cotta was nice. Best meal we've had from beginning to end in a very long time.

Traveling from southwestern Michigan to New York State for the All New York Shop Hop, a small group of quilting friends were looking for a place to have dinner on Mother’s Day after traveling 8 hours. After an hour of searching for a place that was open and would let us in even without a reservation, it was II Posto Bistro! The staff were amazing, customer service top notch, and the food was fresh and delicious! Thank you for wonderful experience!!

We have been meaning to check out Il Posto Bistro, and wish we had sooner! The food was terrific, Wendy came to our table to chat, and her daughter Kaylee was the bartender, and was very friendly and accomodating. We had the Ricotta appetizer, I had the Bolognese, and my wife had the Gorgonzola pasta. It was all great, fresh, and served hot, with generous portions. And the dishes being served to other patrons as they passed our table all looked great as well!! The prices are reasonable, and the wine list should cover anyone's preferences. We will be back very soon.
